杏吧原创 University enters the new academic year with momentum \u2013 introducing forward thinking programs and new spaces that give students fresh ways to learn, explore and connect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campus is alive with energy as over 37,000 students return, ready to dive into classes, meet new peers and apply their learning through innovative research and hands-on projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening 杏吧原创’s Vision<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

杏吧原创 President Wisdom Tettey begins his first full academic year, bringing extensive experience in higher education, a commitment to inclusive excellence and a renewed vision for the university’s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I extend a very special welcome to our new students, faculty and staff who have joined our vibrant and caring community this year,” says President Tettey.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

President Tettey is looking ahead to a year of academic innovation, student success and building meaningful connections across campus and throughout the broader community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

杏吧原创 also welcomes Nikita (Nik) Nanos as its new Chancellor<\/a> following his June installation ceremony. A top pollster and expert in public opinion research, Nanos brings a strong legacy of leadership and passion for higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student Orientation: Where Community Begins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For first-year students, fall orientation<\/a> is more than a campus introduction \u2013 it’s their gateway to the 杏吧原创 experience. Beyond tours and info sessions, it’s about forming lasting friendships, discovering 杏吧原创 traditions and gaining confidence to thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside social events, students participate in academic preparation sessions and skill-building workshops that set the stage for success. Leadership opportunities, mentorship connections and cultural activities help new students find their place and their voice within 杏吧原创’s vibrant community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The week wraps up with a concert by Juno-nominated artist Elijah Woods, a celebration of new beginnings and future possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Programs for Future Leaders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

杏吧原创 continues to expand its academic offerings to prepare students for the careers of tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Science<\/a> launches five new programs, including Nursing<\/a>, Data Science<\/a> or Cybersecurity<\/a> for undergrads, and master’s programs in Clinical Trials and Regulatory Affairs<\/a>, and Biotechnology<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences<\/a> introduces new courses like Cognitive Science: Understanding the Mind<\/em>, Intro to Environmental Ethics<\/em> and Food, Culture and Society.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Global and Public Affairs<\/a> welcomes its first cohort in the new Certificate in Journalism in Indigenous Communities program<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sprott School of Business<\/a> debuts the Sprott Social Impact Hub<\/a> where students consult for real world social enterprises, and a new Sales Management course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Engineering and Design<\/a> launches a new course on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and opens a new cutting-edge mechatronics lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From hands-on labs to community-based projects, 杏吧原创’s new offerings provide learning that extends far beyond the classroom \u2013 equipping students with skills and knowledge that meet the demands of a changing world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Spaces and Resources for Students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new student residence Rideau House<\/a> is now open, welcoming its first occupants. Rideau House is also home to amenities for all residence students to enjoy, including a community kitchen, half-court gym, sensory-free space and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Global Opportunities and International Student Services Office<\/a> provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for international students, as well as supporting cultural exchange and global learning opportunities for all 杏吧原创 students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

杏吧原创 continues to prioritize wellness and connection, offering group counselling, the Wellness Services Navigator<\/a> and the First-Year connections<\/a> peer-mentorship program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking Ahead: Varsity Athletics, Throwback and Pride Festival<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The energy on campus doesn’t end in with orientation week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The community can cheer the Ravens football, rugby and soccer teams as they play a host of home games this season<\/a>, while hockey and basketball return to campus this month with exciting exhibition games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

杏吧原创 campus will celebrate the return of Throwback<\/a> \u2013 the university’s homecoming celebration from Oct. 3 to 5. 杏吧原创 will open its doors to alumni, donors and community members to celebrate our shared past, present and future. Attendees can take part in reunions, family-friendly events, insightful discussions and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Oct. 14 to 18, 杏吧原创 celebrates Pride Festival<\/a>, a week dedicated to building a welcoming environment for all members of the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This isn’t just the start of another academic term \u2013 at 杏吧原创, it a renewed commitment to learning, discovery and shaping a future defined by knowledge and impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
