In front of a sold-out crowd of more than 23,000 fans at Ottawa\u2019s TD Place stadium, the 杏吧原创 University Ravens football team reclaimed Pedro the Panda with a thrilling 20\u201314 victory over the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees in the 56th annual Panda Game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Panda Game, one of Canada\u2019s most storied university rivalries, brought students, alumni and supporters together in a celebration of tradition and connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A tightly contested matchup<\/a>, the Ravens overcame an early deficit, executed key plays in the second quarter, and held off a late Gee-Gees rally to secure the win.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cTo see the character of this team, to watch them come together, believe in one another, and deliver the outcome our community has been waiting for is truly inspiring,\u201d said Wisdom Tettey, 杏吧原创 University president.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

\u201cOur students thrive through all sorts of endeavours, and sport is one way they build spirit and a sense of community,\u201d said Tettey. \u201cThey are the greatest ambassadors on and off the field, achieving this win through their own dedication and hard work, guided by a network of coaches and the support staff.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leadership and Teamwork<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Head coach Corey Grant, who has led the Ravens since 2022, praised the team\u2019s resilience and composure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOttawa is a strong opponent and plays the full 60 minutes, so we wanted to make sure we finished the right way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third-year quarterback Elijah Barnes delivered a standout performance, completing 13 of 19 passes for 189 yards and one touchdown, helping lead the Ravens\u2019 offence. Wide receiver Frederick Hachey contributed six catches for 107 yards and the crucial two-point conversion. Special teams players like Joey Sciandra and Nash MacDonald also played key roles, demonstrating the depth, skill and focus that come from a program built on developing well-rounded student-athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on his team\u2019s performance, Grant credited the team\u2019s preparation. \u201cWe played better as a full team \u2014 offence, defence and special teams. That\u2019s what happens when we play complementary football.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Barnes, the atmosphere was unforgettable. \u201cThe adrenaline still hasn\u2019t worn off,\u201d he said. \u201cSeeing the fans rush the field \u2014 the right way this time \u2014 it\u2019s pretty amazing. I\u2019m still taking it all in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
