\n Analyzing T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Migration Policy \u2013 Lessons from the 2016 T\u00fcrkiye-EU Agreement\n <\/h2>\n <\/header>\n \n \n\n

Kerim Uras<\/a>, former Turkish Ambassador to Canada and Senior Fellow at NPSIA\u2019s Centre for Modern Turkish Studies (MTS), offers a firsthand account of the migration crisis that gripped Europe in 2015\u20132016 and the landmark T\u00fcrkiye-EU Agreement that followed. Drawing on his experience as Ambassador to Greece during this pivotal period, Uras examines the political, humanitarian, and diplomatic dimensions of irregular migration and T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s evolving policy response. The article provides timely insight into the ongoing implications of the 2016 deal, the role of deterrence in migration management, and the challenges facing T\u00fcrkiye today as host to the world\u2019s largest refugee population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n An Alliance in Trouble? Turkey and NATO in 2025\n <\/h2>\n <\/header>\n \n \n\n

The relationship between Turkey and its NATO allies are at its lowest point since the end of Cold War. In this paper, Dr. Balkan Devlen seeks to illuminate how relations between Turkey and NATO might look in 2025, and how Canada can play a constructive role in helping manage emerging disagreements between them. Building on insights from a March 2020 Workshop in Delphi, Balkan posits three alternatives identified as Muddling Through, Return to the Fold, and Breakup. He concludes that Muddling Through is the most likely future with only slim prospects for improvement in the relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
