Your plan will transition to the new pricing if:

  • Your current line is no longer under the two-year voice and data contract or,
  • Your current line is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) line.

If you are unsure of the status of your line, and we’ll provide you with this information.

Here are the changes you can expect based on your current plan.

Voice and data flex line (includes unlimited Canadian long distance & Canada Wide unlimited Text/Pic/Video Messages)
You will be transitioned to the following plan pricing:

  • $2.50 – Voice
  • $3.00 – 300MB
  • $4.00 – 1GB
  • $4.00 – 3GB
  • $8.00 – 6GB
  • $9.00 – Unlimited

Each month, the cost will adjust based on your data usage, plus a base $2.50 cost for voice calling. For example, if you use 3GB of data, your charge for that month would be $6.50. If you exceed 6GB, the charge will be $11.50 for unlimited data and unlimited Canadian long distance

Data flex line
You will be transitioned to the following plan pricing:

  • $3.00 – 300MB
  • $4.00 – 1GB
  • $4.00 – 3GB
  • $8.00 – 6GB
  • $9.00 – Unlimited

Each month, the cost will adjust based on your data usage. For example, if you use 3GB of data, your charge for that month would be $4.00. If you exceed 6GB, the charge will be $9.00 for unlimited data.

Q: I have a $3.15 monthly add-on for unlimited Canadian Long Distance. Will that be removed when we transition over to the new plan

A: Since the new plan now includes unlimited long distance, this add-on will be removed

Q: Are there changes to the long distance rates and roaming options?

A: Yes, we have much lower long distance rates and better roaming options on the new plan

Q: Are the above plans the only options?

A: No, there are now four plans to choose from. If you’re upgrading, the price will be slightly higher. Additionally, we have plans that allow you to use your voice and data in the US. For more details, please visit ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s Mobile Plan for Business Use page.

Q: Who is eligible for this new plan?

A: This corporate plan only applies to devices that are paid for by ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ funds.

As per the Acquisition of Wireless Cellular Services Policy, the majority of employees who require a mobile device will need to transfer to ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s Corporate plan. This policy, which came into effect April 2018, granted a grace period of over a year to allow cellular services to be moved to ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s Corporate plan.

If you are currently being reimbursed from operating or ancillary funds, please contact the ITS Service Desk at its.service.desk@carleton.ca or at ext. 3700 to have your mobile/cellular plan moved over to the corporate plan. Faculty members wishing to charge to their Professional Expense Reimbursement (PER) fund directly may take advantage of the corporate plan by contacting the ITS Service Desk.

This policy only applies to the acquisition of mobile/cellular services with operating, ancillary or PER funds. If you are currently claiming re-imbursement for mobile/cellular charges on any other fund (e.g. research) you may continue to submit for reimbursement.

There are additional exceptions to this policy, including employment status (ex: part time). For more information, please refer to the Acquisition of Wireless Cellular Services Policy.

What do I have to do?
Anyone under the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ corporate plan already will be automatically transferred to the new plan on May 1, 2019.

Benefits of this new VOR (Vendor of Record) include:

Some accounts were also charged a returned payment fee.

How does this affect me?

Due to an incompatibility in the new release of iOS, users of the built-in Apple Mail app in iOS 11 may be unable to sync their Office 365 mailbox or login to their accounts. iOS 9 or 10 users are not affected.

What do I need to do to fix this?

Microsoft and Apple are working to resolve this issue and will post more information to the article, below, when it becomes available. In the meantime, they recommend you download the free Outlook for iOS client, available in the App Store. Alternatively, you can avoid updating to iOS 11 until the issue has been fixed.

Approximately 15,000 business customers using a device with Android 6.0 or a previous version received a SMS from Rogers requesting a mandatory software update to Android 7.0. This update is urgent as these customers will not be able to call 9-1-1 otherwise. Impacted devices are:

  • Galaxy S6
  • Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Galaxy S6 Edge+
  • Galaxy Note 5
  • Galaxy S7
  • Galaxy S7 Edge

This software update can be completed over Wi-Fi or cellular. Rogers will not include the data that is used to download the software updates in your monthly data usage. This only applies to Cellular Telephone Numbers (CTNs) using one of the above six impacted devices.

To Update Your Device:

  • On the device, go to the Settings menu, tap ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ device > Software info.
    • The software version should be 7.0
    • Tap Update Now

Unless it is an emergency, Please do not test the 9-1-1 feature, either before or after the software update.

Please note that if you do not update your smartphone, the outdated software will prevent you from making 911 calls after Rogers completes their wireless network enhancements in the upcoming weeks.

  • August 1st  (Usage between July 2nd and August 1st) and
  • September 1st (Usage between August 2nd and September 1st)

These charges will be fully credited back to your account.

There will also be an adjustment for the voice only portion of your invoice.  You were charged $5 for the voice only portion of your plan when it should be $8 to include unlimited MMS messages.  As a result the following schedule will apply.

  • July 1st invoice – usage as per old plan, we bill monthly service fee 1 month ahead. No credits required. 3$ monthly fee will be charged and applied on September invoice.
  • August 1st invoice – MMS will be credited and credits will appear on September 1st invoice. 3$ monthly fee will be charged and deducted from credit
  • September 1st invoice- MMS will be credited and credits will appear on October 1st invoice. 3$ monthly fee will be charged automatically
  • October 1st invoice – MMS will be captured by the plan, no credits required.

The account should be billing correctly by the October 1st invoice.

We apologize the inconvenience. The new contract was signed later than expected as we were negotiating a better (unlimited) MMS messaging option.
