For more information, please see the following link: <a href=\"http:\/\/ipsociety.ca\/gladue\">ipsociety.ca\/gladue&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"gladue-report-training-teaches-participants\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gladue Report Training Teaches Participants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The law pertaining to Gladue rights<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The structure and function of Canadian criminal courts, including trial and sentencing processes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The required content of Gladue reports including proper composition, structure, referencing and presentation of reports<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to construct good recommendations for the court; and prepare for examination of the report and the writer for court<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Over ten weeks of learning,<\/strong>&nbsp;participants develop an understanding of the importance of story-telling as healing, the role of historic trauma, historic trauma responses, and intergenerational effects in the over-representation of Indigenous people in the criminal justice system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Supported by interactive Adobe Connect sessions,<\/strong>&nbsp;participants obtain resources and learn research skills to assist in crafting good reports and making viable and appropriate sentencing recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two time options for the mandatory Adobe Connect sessions for each module to accommodate most schedules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"201\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/gladue-240x201.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20694\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/gladue-240x201.png 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/gladue-160x134.png 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/gladue.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Dickson will be teaching a Gladue Report Training course on September 17th, 2018.
