His research at present deals with the international reaction to an accurate genocide accusation, particularly trade sanctions with China and Myanmar as case studies. His first book deals with debunking the genocide accusation against Israel. In between working on his dissertation chapters, he is working on the theory of Settler-Refugeeism in which his paper Jack Sigman Settler-Refugee Paper is the first step.

Through the actions of Mordechai Anielewicz, Abba Kovner, and Yitzhak Zuckerman leaders of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, Rich plans to assess how their participation in the Tarbut school system and in various components of the Halutzim influenced their decision to risk their lives and resist the Germans.
