Electives<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Not all electives are offered each year.\u00a0 Also, some of the elective courses have limited enrolment so you may be asked to submit an override request for the courses so that student who need to take the courses to graduate are able to.\u00a0 Priority for some courses go to second year students.<\/p>\n

Electives Outside of IPIS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

You may request that other suitable courses from other departments be approved as a designated security or designated engineering course. Please get this approval in writing prior to taking the course, so that you know if it will count as a designated elective course or not.<\/p>\n

M.IPIS<\/strong> \u2013 Requirement 4<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Course Calendar<\/a>, degree Requirement 4 is 1.0 credits normally comprised of courses with CIVE, INAF or IPIS course designation, but also may be chosen from related programs that have been selected in consultation with, and approved by the MIPIS Director and Associate Director and associate faculty when necessary.\u00a0 IPIS does not oversee or approve registration to courses in CIVE or INAF.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The following is a list of courses pre-approved by the IPIS Director, however, you still need departmental permission from the program that hosts the course in order to register.\u00a0\u00a0 IPIS does not oversee registration to these courses.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For CIVE, BLDG and ENVE courses, you must reach out directly to the professor\/instructor and obtain permission via email.\u00a0 Once you have obtained permission to participate, send a copy of the email and your student number to CEEGradInfo@cunet.carleton.ca.\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n
