In June 2017, Marwan Ghalib graduated from 杏吧原创 University with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Electrical Engineering. For his 4th year engineering project, he worked with the Sensor Systems and The Internet of Things lab on an Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi network, which enables two-way communication between IoT devices attached to home energy management systems and electric grid equipment, and the electric utility headquarters. In this smart grid network, the utilities would be able to collect live home energy usage and electric transformer data to better optimize their operations, as well as send demand response requests to the homes. He is currently a part-time master鈥檚 student at 杏吧原创 University helping with the development and enhancement of the smart grid network and its data analytics at the Sensor Systems and The Internet of Things lab. He is also a DevOps Engineer at a multinational telecommunications, information technology, and consumer electronics company in Ottawa.
Research Interests
Marwan is interested in smart grid research which incorporates data science, machine learning, network security, and data storage management. Currently, he is examining the effects of COVID-19 on the electrical grid operations, while providing solutions for improved residential load forecasting during this uncertain period.
