Following his lecture, Hilding will be joined by the 杏吧原创 University Physics Society (CUPS) for a follow-up discussion.

Hilding is visiting from the Department of Physics & Physical Oceanography at Memorial University in St. John鈥檚, NL.

CUAG Exhibit: Drawing on Our History /indigenous/2023/cuag-exhibit-drawing-on-our-history/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=cuag-exhibit-drawing-on-our-history Fri, 13 Jan 2023 16:19:16 +0000 /indigenous/?p=1500 CUAG is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a commemorative exhibit, “Drawing on Our History.” The exhibit will explore contemporary drawing through a diverse lens of Canadian artists invited by guest curators who have previously collaborated with CUAG.

“Drawing on Our History” will be open from January 29 to May 7, 2023.

The exhibition features the work of Sharon Norwood (invited by Kosisochukwu Nnebe), Kablusiak (invited by Heather Igloliorte), Jagdeep Raina (invited by Anna Khimasia), Nalakwsis (invited by Alexandra Kahsenni:io Nahwegahbow), Marigold Santos (invited by Alice Ming Wai Jim), Jay Odjick (invited by Danielle Printup), M茅lanie Myers (invited by Heather Anderson) and Gayle Uyagaqi Kabloona (invited by Sandra Dyck).

The exhibit’s opening will be celebrated with a from 2:00PM to 4:30PM EST.

Public Talk: Indigenous Disruptions: How Indigenous Self-Determination Practices Can Deepen and Expand International Theory /polisci/cu-events/indigenous-disruptions/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=public-talk-indigenous-disruptions-how-indigenous-self-determination-practices-can-deepen-and-expand-international-theory Fri, 13 Jan 2023 14:36:19 +0000 /indigenous/?p=1498 Sheryl Lightfoot (Anishinaabe, Lake Superior Band) is Canada Research Chair of Global Indigenous Rights and Politics at the University of British Columbia, where she holds faculty appointments in Political Science and the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs as well as an association with the Institute for Critical Indigenous Studies. She serves as the Vice Chair and North American Member on the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) as well as Senior Advisor to the UBC President on Indigenous Affairs, where she is the lead on UBC鈥檚 Indigenous Strategic Plan and directs the Office of Indigenous Strategic Initiatives. She is currently President of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association (NAISA). Her research focuses on Indigenous global politics, especially Indigenous rights and their implementation in global, national and regional contexts.
