Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission for India. He has been a key figure in India\u2019s economic reforms from the mid 1980\u2019s onwards. Prior to his appointment to the Planning Commission, Dr. Ahluwalia was the first Director of the Independent Evaluation Office at the International Monetary Fund. In 1979 Dr. Ahluwalia joined the Government of India and has held senior positions within the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce. In 2011 he was conferred the prestigious \u2018Padma Vibhushan<\/strong>\u2019 by the President of India for his outstanding contribution to economic policy and public service.
