Please share with Elementary and secondary school teachers, teacher candidates, law, nursing, social work, and other students who might be interested in screening it.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Information about the screening<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: The film will be available online for you and your students to engage with at your own pace from<strong>\u00a0November 16 to November 27.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Who: <\/strong>Elementary educators and students across Canada! The film is suitable for all elementary grade levels, although K-2 learners may need additional help from teachers and older peers to make meaning of the story.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s included:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2-week access to the film to screen in your classroom: <strong>November 16-27.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Lesson plans and supplementary resources to support learner engagement with the book, film and issues addressed<\/li>\n<li><strong>An invitation to attend a live webinar with Cindy Blackstock, the author of the book on which the film is based. Read more about the film and watch the trailer here: <a href=\"https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/films\">https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/films<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>杏吧原创 the lesson plans<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The lesson plans aim to support learners in engaging with the book and short film, <em>S<\/em> As the diverse learners across Canada are participating in the screening, the lesson plans do not explicitly take up the learning targets of any particular subject area or grade level. That said, they draw on English Language Arts targets and strategies for supporting students in making meaning of texts, talking and writing, and comparing different kinds of texts that are often developed in mid to late elementary (Grades 2-6). Other learning intentions guiding these lessons lend themselves to multiple subject areas, including building understandings of foundational concepts like fairness, making ethical judgments, and identifying and taking actions in response to learning.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>You can download the lesson plans here: <a href=\"https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/films\">https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/films<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other free elementary learning resources from the Caring Society<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/shannens-dream\">Shannen\u2019s Dream: Safe and Comfy Schools<\/a>is a child-friendly information sheet about young Shannen Koostachin\u2019s fight for equitable education for all First Nations kids (Grades 4 and up).<\/li>\n<li>The First Peoples Child &amp; Family Review is publishing a special children and youth edition in honour of Shannen\u2019s Dream. It\u2019s extending its submission deadline and accepting work from kids and youth on Shannen\u2019s Dream now. <a href=\"https:\/\/fpcfr.com\/index.php\/FPCFR\/announcement\/view\/21\">Check out the submission guidelines<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Spirit Bear\u2019s second book, <a href=\"https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/spirit-bear-fishing-knowledge-catching-dreams-0\"><em>Fishing for Knowledge, Catching Dreams <\/em><\/a>addresses residential schools and ongoing discrimination against First Nations kids. It is available as a <a href=\"https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/sites\/default\/files\/spirit_bear_fishing_for_knowledge_catching_dreams_ebook.pdf\">free PDF <\/a>on our website along with its accompanying <a href=\"https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/sites\/default\/files\/38199_sb_book2_learning_guide_v8f_0.pdf\">learning guide<\/a>(Grades 3 and up).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fncaringsociety.com\/publications\/spirit-bears-guide-truth-and-reconciliation-commission-canada-calls-action\">Spirit Bear\u2019s Guide to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission\u2019s Calls to Action<\/a>breaks down the calls into language students can engage with (Grades 5 and up).<\/li>\n<li>Reconciliation is on all of us!
