Drs. Carol Payne and Christina Williamson are the recipients of a CHA Clio Award (North) for their book听, which they co-edited with Beth Greenhorn and Deborah Kigjugalik Webster. The CHA 鈥楽 CLIO award recognizes 鈥溙the best books in regional history, as well as [鈥 individuals or historical societies who have made significant contributions to local and regional history.鈥 Published with听McGill-Queen鈥檚 University Press,听础迟颈辩辫耻迟听辞蹿蹿别谤蝉听鈥溙a] multigenerational discussion of culture, history, and naming centring on archival photographs of Inuit whose names were previously unrecorded.鈥
Dr. Annette de Stecher, professor of Art History at the University of Colorado Boulder and 2013 Cultural Mediations Alumna, is the recipient of the CHA鈥檚 2023 Indigenous History Book Prize for her monograph Wendat Women鈥檚 Arts,听also published with McGill-Queen鈥檚 University Press.听The prize is awarded annually by the Indigenous History Group, a committee affiliated with the Canadian Historical Association, to recognize the best听book in aboriginal history. 鈥溙Breaking new ground in Indigenous art histories鈥, Wendat Women鈥檚 Arts offers 鈥 [a] richly illustrated history of Wendat women鈥檚 embroidery traditions, from the eighteenth century to the present, interwoven with the stories of the artists.鈥
