Human Resources recently gave a presentation on December 11, 2024, where we discussed the  ,  as well as providing an overview of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University Retirement Plan and other benefits employees can expect in retirement.  also provided guidance on how to use the Retirement Planner to calculate an estimate of your pension.

If you are currently an active member of the retirement plan (as of June 30, 2021) and have consented to receive your annual personal pension statement electronically, it is now available.

Access your pension statement by:

  1. Launching a new browser and enter: i.carleton.ca or click on the link .
  2. Enter your MyÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´One Username and Password.
  3. Go to My HR.
  4. Click on 2021 Pension Statement.

For those of you who selected printed copies, they will be sent by mail and will go out by Dec. 10.

The Canada Savings Bonds Program is Ending

The Canada Savings Bonds Program is Ending

The Government of Canada announced it will discontinue the sale of Canada Savings Bonds (CSBs) purchased through the Payroll Savings Program as of November 2017.

What this means if you are currently enrolled in the Program

  • Your CSB contributions will continue to be deducted from your pay and go towards your CSB Payroll Savings Plan until 31 October 2017.
  • The funds in your Payroll Savings Plan are safe, guaranteed and will be honoured. Bond series in your plan will continue to earn interest until redemption or maturity, whichever comes first.
  • You will continue to have access to your funds 24/7 through . If you wish to prior to the maturity date, you can do so online or by using the automated telephone service.
  • As each bond series in your plan matures, the funds (principal and interest) associated with that series will automatically be paid out to you by cheque or direct deposit according to your account information.
  • After all the bond series in your plan have been redeemed or paid out, your plan will be closed.
  • If you contribute to a Canada RSP through the Payroll Savings Program, there will be no change at this time. If any, they will be communicated to you at a future date.

Retirement Plan Mortality Table Update

The Pension Committee has approved a recommendation to the Board of Governors to update the mortality tables used to calculate starting Money Purchase pensions.

  • The new mortality tables will be implemented over a four-year period commencing after July 1, 2016
  • Pensions commencing on or before July 1, 2016 will not be affected.
  • The change does not affect anyone who is currently receiving a pension from the Plan or anyone who retires on a Minimum Guarantee pension.
  • The Retirement Planner or pension estimates from the pension department have NOT been updated to reflect this change. Members will be notified when the planner is updated.
