Professor Rod Phillips<\/a> gave the keynote paper at a conference held at the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne in Bordeaux, France, 17-19 October. The conference was: Monde du vin, r\u00e9seaux et \u00e9chelles: Interm\u00e9diation dans la production, distribution et la consommation du vin\/Wine worlds, networks and scales: Intermediation in the production, distribution and consumption of wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It drew participants from throughout Europe, as well as the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Phillips\u2019s paper was entitled, \u201cNegotiating God, the weather, and merchants: the priest of Volnay (Burgundy) and the wine business in the 18th<\/sup> century\u201d\/\u201dTraiter avec Dieu, la m\u00e9t\u00e9o et les n\u00e9gociants: le cur\u00e9 de Volnay et le march\u00e9 du vin au XVIIIe si\u00e8cle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
