\n Donate Now to the Norman Hillmer Doctoral Scholarship in History\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

As many of you know, Professor Norman Hillmer<\/a> is an inspiring and dedicated educator who has spent many years in the History Department pushing us to be the best scholars and historians we can be. Throughout his amazingly productive academic career, during which he has published 31 authored or edited books, Prof. Hillmer has remained deeply committed to teaching at all undergraduate and graduate levels, from the first-year Canadian history course he regularly teaches to the 55 MA and 16 doctoral students whose theses he has supervised. As Professor Hillmer noted at an event to honour his appointment to the Order of Canada, teaching has been his life\u2019s mission<\/strong>.  Over the course of his twenty-seven years at 杏吧原创, he has won every teaching award the university offers, including the Graduate Mentoring Award in 2010, the award\u2019s inaugural year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In honour of Prof. Hillmer, his family has established the Norman Hillmer Doctoral Scholarship<\/a>. Once established, this scholarship will serve to recognize the exceptional achievement of future generations of promising historians, in perpetuity. As part of the award each recipient will be offered the opportunity to present part of his\/her research at a lecture organized by the Department of History.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will you join us in supporting Prof. Hillmer\u2019s efforts to support future historians?<\/strong> Our goal is to raise $50,000 to create a permanently endowed graduate scholarship that will celebrate Professor Hillmer\u2019s legacy and benefit a deserving doctoral student in the Department of History every two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, November 28, is Giving Tuesday, when individual donations will be tripled by the University. After today, donations will be single-matched by the university until December 31, up to a total of $50,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
