Those behind <b>Extraordinary Measures<\/b>&nbsp;told a complex history in a way that really engaged the audience.&nbsp; <\/span><span class=\"s1\">However, the two winning teams were those who made&nbsp;<b>Losing Steam<\/b>&nbsp;and <b>I Did it All For You<\/b>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><b>Losing Steam <\/b>impressed them by its understanding of the wide and deep meanings of local histories that evocatively drew the audience in through sound and visual imagery, sophisticated editing, and the filmmakers&#8217; respect for the passion of the interviewees.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><b>I Did It &nbsp;All For You <\/b>impressed them by the skillful way the filmmakers told two distinct narratives that came together powerfully at the end, for the subtle use of music and image, and for editing strategies that made still photographs come alive for the viewer.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"s1\">Congratulations to everyone, particularly to the winners, and to Michael Ostroff who once again enabled students to tell compelling histories &#8220;off the page.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"160\" height=\"76\" src=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/legacy-160x76.jpg\" alt=\"child cycling in front of armoured vehicles\" class=\"wp-image-13927\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/legacy-160x76.jpg 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/legacy-240x114.jpg 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/legacy-768x365.jpg 768w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/legacy-400x190.jpg 400w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/legacy-360x171.jpg 360w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/legacy.jpg 994w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 160px) 100vw, 160px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Extraordinary Measures<br>\n<\/strong>Pierre Laporte is dead.
