Hinton will discuss the work of the actors, designers, director and text in rehearsal and performance. The Shaw Festival is North America&#8217;s second largest repertory theatre, and the question invites a larger inquiry as to why Canada&#8217;s most pre-eminent theatres are dedicated to Shakespeare and Shaw. He has been directing classical and contemporary plays for the past 30 years. Recent credits include: &#8220;Bombay Black,&#8221; Factory Theatre (Toronto), &#8220;Funny Girl,&#8221; Segal Centre (Montreal), &#8220;Pygmalion,&#8221; Shaw Festival, &#8220;The Rez Sisters,&#8221; Belfry Theatre (Victoria), &#8220;Cabaret,&#8221; Shaw Festival, &#8220;The Seagull,&#8221; Segal Centre, &#8220;A Tender Thing,&#8221; Belfry, and &#8220;Lady Windermere&#8217;s Fan,&#8221; Shaw Festival. A respected teacher, Hinton&nbsp;has taught at the National Theatre School of Canada, Ryerson University and is currently the professional mentor for the York University\/Canadian Stage MFA program in directing. Upcoming projects include his own adaptation of Lewis Carroll\u2019s &#8220;Alice in Wonderland,&#8221; Shaw Festival 2016, &#8220;All&#8217;s Well That Ends Well,&#8221; The Shakespeare Company (Calgary) 2016, and &#8220;Louis Riel&#8221; for the Canadian Opera Company 2017.
