Professor Mayer is a distinguished scholar whose work has garnered many awards.&nbsp; Her publications on the history of ideas in Mexico are numerous; her particular niche is a comparative approach to intellectual history such as bringing together the thoughts of Cotton Mather and Francisco de Sig\u00fcenza y G\u00f3ngora.&nbsp; While at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´, she will be finishing her book on the reception of the ideas of Bartolom\u00e9 de las Casa in New France.
