Next Thursday, April 9<\/strong>, marks the 11th annual Underhill Undergraduate Colloquium<\/a>. A showcase of undergraduate excellence, the event is a wonderful way to wrap up another busy school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year\u2019s event featured film screenings, digital projects, awards and prizes, and a reception for both faculty and students. With the theme \u201cMaking History Matter, this year\u2019s event promises an equally diverse program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration is both open and free and takes place from 1:30 to 4:00pm<\/strong>. That said, if you plan on attending the event, please let us know at https:\/\/underhill2015.eventbrite.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

杏吧原创 the Underhill Undergraduate Colloquium<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The first History Society Undergraduate Colloquium was organized in 2004. Led by Patrick Watson, a group of activist history students sought to launch an annual forum to showcase noteworthy research produced by their colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2014, on the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the colloquium was renamed in order to reflect the generous pledge of ongoing support from the Frank Underhill Endowment Fund. The occasion is now known as the Underhill Undergraduate Colloquium, but its mission to inspire and promote excellence in undergraduate research remains unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

杏吧原创 Frank Underhill<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In 1955, Frank Underhill came to Ottawa as the curator of Laurier House \u2013 after a storied career at the University of Toronto. He later joined 杏吧原创 as a faculty member and upon his death in 1971, his personal library became the core of the Underhill Reading Room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Underhill Reading Room Fund endowment was inaugurated in memory of Dr. Underhill for the support of the Reading Room and special projects, including the annual undergraduate and graduate student colloquia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
