\"LiamResearchers focus on computer-assisted building simulation to assess the impact of design, rehabilitation and retrofit options on heritage structures. Researchers assess the potential for cost-effective retrofits to achieve long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n

Students will investigate new materials, design retrofits and other interventions that consider energy efficiency, while respecting both environmental and heritage values. Research will focus on the use of appropriate interventions to prevent damage to \u00a0architectural elements of heritage buildings and prevent the accelerated decay of existing buildings.<\/p>\n

Proposed methodologies will assess operating energy use and embodied energy, and evaluate the potential impact of energy-efficiency-based interventions, adaptation of energy, and green-building rating systems, on heritage resources.<\/p>\n
