Please join us聽on Thursday, February 8, 2018 for the 3rd annual NSERC CREATE Heritage Forum. The day-long event will be held at 杏吧原创 Immersive Media Studio, 杏吧原创聽University from 9:00am to 4:30pm with a catered lunch. This year鈥檚 Forum will feature noted Portuguese structural engineer Professor Paulo Louren莽o as keynote speaker, speaking on 鈥淧reservation of Historic Structures: Methodology and Practice.鈥�
The Forum will be followed by a one-day workshop 鈥淐ase Studies on Improving the Structural Performances of Historic Constructions: theory and praxis鈥� led by聽 Professor Louren莽o and John Cooke on Friday, February 9, 2018.

Paulo Louren莽o is a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering,聽University of Minho, Guimar茫es, Portugal. Professor Louren莽o is experienced in the fields of non-destructive testing, advanced experimental and numerical techniques, innovative strengthening techniques and earthquake engineering. He is a specialist in structural restoration and has worked as consultant on more than forty monuments, including World Heritage sites such as Cathedral of Porto, Monastery of Jeronimos (Lisbon), and Qutb Minar (New Delhi). Professor Louren莽o is the coordinator of the European Erasmus Mundus Advanced Master’s in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions (SAHC). He is editor of the聽International Journal of Architectural Heritage: Conservation, Analysis and Restoration and coeditor of the Conference Series, Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions. He is a Board Member of Committee on Historical Structures / International Council of Monuments and Sites – ICOMOS and participated in technical committees from CEN, CIB and RILEM. Supervisor of 26 Ph.D. students (13 concluded) and coordinator of several national and international research projects. The Heritage Forum will also include reports from the field –聽our own student聽interns and their host organizations speaking about the internship experience and recent developments in the industry. Professors and collaborators will also provide updates on their work in digitization, simulation and rehabilitation.
