Thank you.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n an online event<\/b><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u201cThe essential contribution made by the consideration of authenticity in conservation practice is to clarify and illuminate the collective memory of humanity.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n – Nara Document on Authenticity, 1994<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Organizing Committee of the\u00a015th Annual Graduate Student Heritage Conservation Symposium\u00a0and the graduate School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies, in cooperation with 杏吧原创 University\u2019s NSERC CREATE Heritage Engineering Program are pleased to announce our upcoming symposium for 2021 titled:\u00a0Keeping Heritage Real: Authenticity in Conservation Practice. The symposium will be starting on Thursday, April 15th, 2021, on Zoom and will be recurring every Thursday for five weeks, over lunchtime. We are now accepting submissions.<\/strong><\/p>\n The symposium seeks submissions from students within the disciplines of Heritage Conservation, Architecture, Engineering, History, Museology, Curatorial Studies, and related fields.<\/p>\n Submissions are encouraged to explore, but are not limited to, the following guiding questions:<\/p>\n How might authenticity be defined in a world of evolving cultural values?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n How can heritage processes become more inclusive of marginalized communities?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n How and when can values assessment be democratized?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n What are possible productive relationships between authenticity and sustainability?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Can conflicting claims and interpretations of authenticity be reconciled?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n How do notions of authenticity change at times of crisis or conflict?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n How have evolving definitions of authenticity enabled conservation practice to engage with processes of collective memory?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nkeeping heritage real:
