Geneviève Forget presents at ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´’s Data Day 8.0 /healthpsychlab/2022/genevieve-forget-presents-at-carletons-data-day-8-0/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=genevieve-forget-presents-at-carletons-data-day-8-0 Thu, 31 Mar 2022 18:39:13 +0000 /healthpsychlab/?p=308 Health psychology lab member Geneviève Forget and her multidisciplinary team presented their classwork investigating lifestyle diseases in the Canadian population. See their poster here: Data Day 8 Poster – Forget Pontone Kotillil Ahmmed

Their study sought to develop a model using supervised machine learning classifiers to test their ability to classify individuals with cardiovascular disease and/or type 2 diabetes using publicly available Canadian health and environmental datasets linked at the health region level (N = 113,290). The resulting models indicate that individual-level factors (i.e., perceived health, age, sedentary behaviour, smoking) were most important for classification. Further, the high level of type 1 errors suggests that such algorithms may be applied as a pre-screening tool to identify those at risk of developing lifestyle-related illness
