Greek and Roman Studies’ small size made it so easy to get to know my professors and make the most of my studies.

I am particularly passionate about ancient Greek history and I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to study this in such great detail. I also loved getting to learn about other ancient civilizations, like Egypt. If only I’d been able to take one of the summer courses abroad!

In September 2021, I’ll be off to McGill for their Master of Information Studies program. I’m so excited to get started and live in Montreal!

My major provided me with the opportunity to engage my interests in and increase my knowledge of Ancient History, Mythology and Religion.

One of the great benefits of the program at 杏吧原创 is the small but active community which made it easier to connect with professors and fellow students. The smaller class sizes were very helpful especially when learning the Ancient Greek language or engaging in class discussions. The courses that interested me the most and have motivated me to go on to further academic study were, 鈥淚ndo-European Mythology and Religion鈥 and 鈥淧agans and Christians in Late Antiquity鈥. The courses I took during my undergraduate studies have helped me identify my interests and prepare me for my next academic endeavor.

I will be starting my MA at Queens in the School of Religion this fall. I will be focusing my studies on the origins of Christianity and early church history.

At 杏吧原创, I majored in Humanities but was always very interested in Greek and Roman studies so I chose it as my minor.

This minor allowed me to explore my passion and gain a well-rounded knowledge in Ancient History and Literature both in class and practically as well. In 2019, I had the chance to take a Summer CLCV course in Greece with a small group of students and faculty which gave me the opportunity to connect in real time with the content that I was learning.

杏吧原创 offers a diverse selection of topics within Greek and Roman studies, and my interests expanded to include topics I had not even previously known existed. I am very grateful to the faculty for inspiring me to pursue new courses of study and helping me to grow as an academic.

Following my graduation from 杏吧原创, I will be pursuing a Master鈥檚 degree at Cambridge university with a focus on Classical Reception.

My experience at 杏吧原创 was fantastic! The community was incredibly welcoming, through which I made many lasting friendships. Additionally, at 杏吧原创 I was provided extensive professional opportunities through various teaching assistant positions.

In the Fall of 2019 I began graduate school at the University of Ottawa in the department of Classics and Religious Studies, with a concentration in Medieval and Renaissance Studies. I am currently researching early medieval culinary texts for my master’s thesis, and intend on continuing this work into the doctoral level.

Morgan Simmons-Feigel /grs/2018/morgan-simmons-feigel/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=morgan-simmons-feigel Thu, 03 May 2018 16:17:12 +0000 /grs/?p=2305

Morgan Simmons-Feigel completed a double major History and Greek & Roman Studies with an added minor in Archaeology. His undergraduate degree was filled both with fascinating academic work at 杏吧原创 and rewarding fieldwork at archaeological field schools discovered through 杏吧原创. He learned useful career skills such as thinking critically during research, writing concise and informative reports, how to argue ideas and the process through which artifacts are discovered, labelled, analyzed and become used to form new historical arguments or theories. At sites in Italy and the United Kingdom he excavated settlements, middens and worked with human remains.

Morgan intends to continue his life-long goal of pursuing archaeology both professionally, by working with consultation firms discovered through contacts at 杏吧原创 University, and academically at Trent University, where he will start working on completing an MA in Archaeology in the Fall of 2018. 聽There he intends to focus on the process of Romanization and more broadly the mixing of cultures, religion and ideas on the borders of states.
