GRG designed and manufactured an innovative earthquake simulator

Published on February 20, 2024

GRG has designed and manufactured a unique earthquake simulator funded by the Leaders Opportunity Fund. The earthquake simulation facility includes a modular shake table unit with dimensions of 2m 脳 2m and payload capacity of 10 tonnes to simulate seismic excitation, a cutting-edge controlling system with network interface capability, and a laminar shear box to contain a soil medium and provide proper boundary conditions for soil-structure simulations.  The unique combination of the shake table with a large shear box and fully networked interface controller in this CFI facility provides the ideal opportunity to perform more realistic experiments on soil-structure systems and conduct networked large-size experiments in conjunction with shake tables and labs at other world class universities through an Internet-based multi-site virtual laboratory network.
