Kirk received his PhD from <a href=\"https:\/\/mun.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\">Memorial University<\/a> where he studied under the supervision of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mun.ca\/psychology\/bio\/brent-snook\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\">Dr. Brent Snook<\/a>, Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mun.ca\/psychology\/psychology-and-law-laboratory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"3\">Psychology and Law lab<\/a>. Following his PhD, Kirk spent a few years as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/psychology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"4\">Department of Psychology<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"5\">Lancaster University<\/a> in the UK. During his time at Lancaster University, Kirk was also a member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/security-lancaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"6\">Security Lancaster<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/crestresearch.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"7\">CREST<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kirk is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University and is a member of the <a data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"8\" href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/fprc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Forensic Psychology Research Centre<\/a>. He is also the current editor for <a data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"9\" href=\"https:\/\/iiirg.org\/resources\/journal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Investigative Interviewing: Research and Practice<\/a>, the official journal for the <a data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"10\" href=\"http:\/\/iiirg.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">International Investigative Interviewing Research Group<\/a>, and on the Editorial Board for <i><a data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"11\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/pubs\/journals\/law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Psychology, Public Policy, and Law<\/a><\/i>. He is also a founding member of the <a data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"12\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coldcasenetwork.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cold Case Network<\/a> \u2013 a group of academics and practitioners working on cold case related research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Research Interests<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kirk\u2019s research interests include safeguarding legal rights for adults and youth, and advancing research and practice on investigative interviewing.
