Chairs\/Directors and faculty colleagues are encouraged to approach strong potential applicants to express their support and to encourage their application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"application-package\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Package<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must provide:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>current curriculum vitae;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cover letter outlining the contribution of the applicant\u2019s body of activity, drawing on examples where appropriate, over the last two years to sharing expertise and research with the media or community, enhancing public understanding of the issues of the day, and stimulating dialogue and discourse among the public at large; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>four to six sample pieces of public writing, outlines of public addresses, or digital files or URL\u2019s of media interviews, as applicable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-25\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fpga\/public-commentary-excellence-award-application-form\/\">Apply Now<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"award-recognition\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Award Recognition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The recipient of the award will receive a $1,000 taxable cash award, and a framed certificate. They will also be featured in a Faculty profile online and on social media to highlight their achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"procedures-and-selection-committee\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Procedures and Selection Committee<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants should use the application submission form on the ODFPA website to upload their materials. <strong>Completed application packages must be received by Wednesday, March 18, 2026.<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The selection committee for the Public Commentary Excellence Award is chaired by the Associate Dean, Student and Enrollment.&nbsp; The award selection committee membership will normally consist of up to four FPGA faculty members drawing on past recipients (as available).&nbsp; The selection committee will make its recommendation to the Dean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Please note that since the Office of the Dean sponsors these awards, faculty and professional staff working in the Office of the Dean are not eligible for these awards nor are they able to provide nominations or letters of support for others.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Past
