We are currently accepting applications for admission for the 2025-2026 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early deadline for applications: November 15, 2024<\/strong>. International students are especially encouraged to apply by this early deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final deadline for applications: Feb 1st, 2025<\/strong> to be guaranteed space and funding, but later applications will still be considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admission Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The minimum requirement for admission to the M.A. program is a B.A. Honours with high honours standing (or equivalent GPA from a four-year degree program) in Film Studies or a related discipline. Related disciplines include Communication, Art History, Music, Literature, Indigenous and Canadian Studies, Women\u2019s and Gender Studies, History, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the application process, you will be required to provide a number of documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Statement of Intent<\/strong>
\nYour statement<\/span> of<\/span> intent<\/span> should include both your academic interests and the research project\/field you wish to explore during your studies. You should also indicate the ways in which our MA program fits your intended project. To ease our ability to accommodate your objectives, please also indicate if you wish to work with faculty member in particular. Finally, your statement<\/span> should be 1-2 pages single space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Writing Sample<\/strong>
\nTypes of<\/span> writing sample may include a course paper, a chapter from a thesis or indeed a major research paper, preferably relevant to your proposed research area or\/and to Film and Media Studies. The length may vary from 8-20 pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Official transcript(s)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Two letters of recommendation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
