This comprised over 100 papers and two books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe higher doctorates are like the old doctorates of the medieval ages, for superior distinction.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burn is the supervisor of 杏吧原创\u2019s new <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/northernstudies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Northern Studies<\/a> graduate programs. He held an NSERC Senior Northern Research Chair at the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies from 2002-\u201912. He came to Canada in 1981 as a Commonwealth Scholar and completed both a Master\u2019s (Geography, 1983) and Ph.D. (Geology, 1986) at 杏吧原创.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burn\u2019s primary research focus is on field investigation of <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/2016\/solid-ground-studying-effects-climate-change-permafrost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">permafrost environments<\/a> in northwest Canada. He credits his 28 years of work with Canada\u2019s foremost expert on <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/story\/laying-the-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">permafrost<\/a>, J.
