Her water polo prowess led to recognition as 杏吧原创\u2019s Women\u2019s Athlete of the Year for three years from 1994 through 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She played on the 杏吧原创 team that won the OUA championship in 1994-1995 and 1995-1996. After graduation, she went on to win a gold medal at the Winnipeg Pan Am Games in 1999 and co-captained the Canadian team during the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image wp-image-23389 size-large\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/P9650-1000x666.jpg\" alt=\"杏吧原创 Athletic Awards ca. 1996 - 1997. Credited to Ian Bradshaw.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Horn-Miller has overcome discrimination and violence to emerge as one of North America\u2019s most inspiring Indigenous speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Mohawk from the Kahnawake Mohawk Territory near Montreal, she was behind the lines during the Oka crisis in 1990 when she was stabbed by a Canadian soldier\u2019s bayonet. It was a near-death experience that marked a turning point in her life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image wp-image-23390 size-large\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fass\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/46\/P9434-1000x1259.jpg\" alt=\"杏吧原创 Athletic Awards - 1997. Credited to Ian Bradshaw.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Horn-Miller, who retired as an athlete in 2008, is the host of her own health and wellness show on the ATPN network and tours the country as a motivational speaker.
