While in the lab Marina will develop part of her thesis on road ecology using an extensive dataset to estimate the effect of paving on roadkill rate. She is excited for this period of learning and exchanging experiences.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-726\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fahriglab\/wp-content\/uploads\/Marina-sized-240x183.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fahriglab\/wp-content\/uploads\/Marina-sized-240x183.jpg 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fahriglab\/wp-content\/uploads\/Marina-sized-160x122.jpg 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fahriglab\/wp-content\/uploads\/Marina-sized.jpg 301w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Zilva van Rossum is a visiting master\u2019s student from the University of Amsterdam in The Netherlands. During her time in the lab, she will study dispersal adaptations in the Glanville fritillary butterfly in response to fragmentation per se, landscape quality, and heterogeneity.
