Eliana and her students study biodiversity patterns and processes in human-modified landscapes. She joins the lab for a sabbatical year, during which time she will study the responses of tree diversity to forest loss using an impressive dataset from the Atlantic forest of Brazil.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-493\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fahriglab\/wp-content\/uploads\/Eliana-240x184.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fahriglab\/wp-content\/uploads\/Eliana-240x184.jpg 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fahriglab\/wp-content\/uploads\/Eliana-160x123.jpg 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/fahriglab\/wp-content\/uploads\/Eliana.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ben Li is a PhD candidate from China who will spend a year in the lab thanks to a Chinese program that funds PhD students to spend part of their degrees abroad. Ben studies amphibians in the parks of Shanghai, and in surrounding agricultural landscapes.
