The speaker series brings together BA, MA, doctoral and post-doctoral researchers that wish to discuss their research projects (e.g. honours research theses) and receive feedback from their peers, while at the same time encouraging and teaching other students in this highly interdisciplinary group about how to start and pursue research projects. The speaker series has been organized into a series of “work-in-progress” events and this month features one of EURUS’s MA students, Kristina Pandek, whose research is on refugee reception centres in Croatia. Kristina will talk about her experiences starting an empirical research project, getting access to reception centres, and the methodological, theoretical as well as contextual aspects of her ongoing MRP project. The 2016 Emerging Scholars and Fresh Insights Series will continue throughout the summer and feature approximately 10 speakers.

The series is linked to the “Mobility & Politics Collective”, a unique faculty-student research cluster initiated by Martin Geiger in 2014. This collective brings together more than 45 students from 杏吧原创 and beyond. Some of its members recently planned and implemented a high-profile conference on international organizations and their role in migration politics, while others have been asked to present their research at conferences outside 杏吧原创 or have assisted in Geiger’s research activities and bids for research funding.

Students and emerging scholars that wish to join the “Mobility & Politics Collective” are invited to send an email to mobilitypoli@gmail.com and to follow our twitter feed @mobpoli.
