\n Managing Migration in World Society: International Organizations in Migration Politics\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

This 1.5 days international research workshop and conference, taking place during 杏吧原创 University\u2019s Faculty of Public Affair\u2019s Research Month, features established and emerging scholars from across Canada, the U.S., Europe and other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specialized international organizations (IOs), including the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the organization of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), matter significantly to today\u2019s migration politics. Recent examples include the resettlement of Syrian refugees, but also the support of states in better protecting their borders and keeping immigration systems restrictive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Preliminary<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Contributions to this event aim to increase scholarly awareness of the growing involvement of IOs in national, regional and global politics, while closing significant gaps in our scholarly understanding of IOs and their contribution to world (migration) politics.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our event at the Ottawa Hub (March 10)<\/strong> and at 杏吧原创 University (March 11)<\/strong> was made possible by a joint effort of Prof. Martin Geiger, international and national research collaborators\/centres and numerous 杏吧原创 students. These students include both graduate (MA and doctoral) as well as undergraduate students from various departments, participating in the Mobility & Politics cluster (http:\/\/mobilitypolitics.org\/main\/team\/<\/a>), who have an active say and strong involvement in making this event possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
