The project,&nbsp;&#8220;The International Organization for Migration (IOM): Legitimacy, Influence and Capacity through the Successful Management of External Relations&#8221;, will&nbsp;expand on Dr. Geiger&#8217;s previous IOM research. Specifically, he will examine&nbsp;IOM&#8217;s growing importance for&nbsp;migration politics and, &#8220;what this means for our understanding of international organizations, the outsourcing of central policy tasks, as well as the effectiveness and socio-political implications of new approaches to migration&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/eurus\/people\/geiger-martin\/\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Geiger<\/a>, is an Assistant&nbsp;Professor of Politics of Human Migration and Mobility with the Department of Political Science and Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies.&nbsp;Professor Geiger also organizes the <em>Mobility and Politics Lecture Series: Emerging Trends and Common Challenges in Europe and Canada.<\/em>&nbsp;The final series&#8217; event this fall, &nbsp;&#8220;Sanctuary City and the Refugee Crisis,&#8221; &nbsp;will be held on <strong>Thursday December 3, 2015<\/strong>.
