This course examines twenty-five years of reform in post-Soviet Russia in the context of rapidly changing global politics. It focuses on important events in Russia\u2019s recent past, explains the country\u2019s failed attempt to accomplish liberal democratic reforms and discusses Putin\u2019s \u2018managed democracy\u2019 project. Special attention is given to the Russia as a player in the international arena, as the course delves into the causes of Russo-Georgian war and the annexation of Crimea, as well as Russia\u2019s confrontation with the Western world over the last few years.
\nThis course is part of the program requirement for EURUS BA students.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n
