WHAT DO I KNOW ABOUT AZERBAIJAN?<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ESSAY CONTEST<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Deadline: <\/em>30 April 2014<\/em>*<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Embassy of the Republic of Aerbaijan in Canada with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan announces an essay contest on the subject “What do I know about Azerbaijan?\u201d<\/b>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRIZE<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten winners of the contest will be awarded with a 7-10-day trip to Azerbaijan in June 2014. They will also receive a special certificate from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SELECTION<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selection process will be conducted by the Expert Group appointed by the ministries of Youth and Sports and Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Generic topics of the Essay Contest<\/b>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 History, arts and culture of Azerbaijan
\n\u2022 People, language, traditions and religions of Azerbaijan
\n\u2022 Realties of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict
\n\u2022 Heydar Aliyev: National leader of Azerbaijan
\n\u2022 Azerbaijan in international politics
\n\u2022 Economic development of Azerbaijan
\n\u2022 Oil and gas strategy of Azerbaijan
\n\u2022 Azerbaijan and Canada: historical ties and prospects
\n\u2022 Azerbaijan in Canadian sources<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the context of the generic topics students are invited to choose any specific topic according to their interest and educational background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ELIGIBILITY<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contest is open to the following age groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– high school students (age 14-18)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– undergraduate, graduate and PhD students (age 19-29) currently enrolled at Canadian universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preference is given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents; however international students are also welcomed with the exception of students from Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REQUIREMENTS<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Essays must not be longer than 2,500 words. All submissions must be double spaced in 12-point, Arial regular font throughout and in both MS Word and PDF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All authors assume the responsibility for any factual errors. If copyrighted material is used in an essay, the author is responsible for obtaining permission to use the material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deadline for the contest is 30 April 2014.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Essays must be submitted via email to Mr. Arif Mammadov at arif.mammadov@azembassy.ca<\/a> and accompanied by the following documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
