Note: students who meet the criteria may add a maximum of one additional 0.5 credit course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"criteria-for-adding-a-half-credit-course-0-5-credit\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Criteria for adding a half-credit course (0.5 credit)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum of B- (70%) average in current courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent workshop (minimum average of 70%) and FYS attendance (minimum 70%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"steps-to-apply\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Steps to apply<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete and submit the <em>form below.<\/em><strong>&nbsp;Deadline: December 15<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet with an Academic Advisor to review request to add course. Book at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carleton.ca\/esp\/appointments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">carleton.ca\/esp\/appointments<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"costs\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Costs<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Adding a course increases your fees and would make you a &#8220;full-time&#8221; student by financial standards for the Winter Term. As a result, you would be charged tuition fees as well as the additional fees associated with full-time status. We need the results from your December exams in order to make the final decision on your request. An ESP Academic Advisor will contact you in January to confirm your grades. <strong><em>If your grades drop below a 70% average after December exams, you will be withdrawn from the course and your fees refunded.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You cannot add a course that conflicts with your current courses or workshops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are not required to take a workshop with this course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please note: it may not be possible to enroll you in your first choice of course (if for example, the course is full or is restricted to a certain group of students).\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be sure to provide us with at least a couple of course options.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"course-selection\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Course selection<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/central.carleton.ca\/prod\/bwysched.p_select_term?wsea_code=EXT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Public class schedule<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;to search for courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be sure you are searching in the <strong>Winter 2026 term<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure it\u2019s a Winter term, half-credit course that begins in January and that you have the required prerequisites:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the course started in September, you can\u2019t add it. The \u201cFull Session Info\u201d column will say \u201c2nd half of two term course\u201d . If the course has nothing in this column, it is a winter term course and you can add it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the time(s). A course can have a <strong>Lecture<\/strong>\u00a0(e.g. HIST 1900A) and might have\u00a0 a <strong>Laboratory, Discussion group or tutorial (HIST 1900 A01, A02, A03, A04, A05, etc)<\/strong>. Be sure both the lecture and the lab or group fit your schedule. If the course has a lab or tutorial, there may be different times available, you only need to find <em>one<\/em> that\u2019s open &amp; fits your schedule.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In your request, please include the full course code, lab\/discussion group\/tutorial (if applicable) and CRN (course registration number) listed on the public class schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<script
