Stream can help you to qualify for a variety of 杏吧原创\u2019s programs. Students<br>in the Arts &amp; Social Science Stream enroll in a First-Year Seminar (FYSM 1900) course and two electives<br>of their choosing each semester. Please note that some degrees may have additional prerequisites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"bachelor-of-cognitive-science\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bachelor of Cognitive Science<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A minimum average of C+ (6.0) across 3.0 credits in the ESP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"bachelor-of-communication-media-studies\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bachelor of Communication &amp; Media Studies<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A minimum average of C+ (6.0) across 3.0 credits in the ESP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"bachelor-of-economics\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bachelor of Economics<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A minimum average of C+ (6.0) across 3.0 credits in the ESP, and grade 12 Advanced Functions (MHF4U).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"bachelor-of-global-international-studies\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bachelor of Global &amp; International Studies<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A minimum average of C+ (6.0) across 3.0 credits in the ESP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"bachelor-of-media-production-and-design\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bachelor of Media Production and Design<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A minimum average of C+ (6.0) across 3.0 credits in the ESP, and one grade 12 university level math credit (MDM4U, MHF4U or MCV4U). Prerequisite grades vary from year to year. Please consult with <a href=\"mailto:admissions@carleton.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admissions<\/a> for more information. BMPD is a limited enrolment program, and meeting the minimum requirement does not guarantee admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"bachelor-of-music\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bachelor of Music<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A minimum average of C+ (6.0) across 3.0 credits in the ESP will satisfy the academic requirement.<br>Candidates must also audition and be selected by the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"esp-business-stream\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">ESP Business Stream<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in the ESP Business Stream enroll in a first-year Math course (MATH 1009), first-year Economics<br>(ECON 1001\/ECON 1002), Introduction to Business (BUSI 1800) and a First-Year Seminar (FYSM 1900)<br>course.<br>To earn admission to a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of International Business or Bachelor of Accounting, students must: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the ESP Business stream with an overall minimum average of B- (7.0),<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\"> and<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Earn a minimum of C+ in 3 of the following 4 courses: ECON 1001, ECON 1002, MATH 1009 and BUSI 1800, with no grade less than a C-.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"esp-computer-science-stream\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">ESP Computer Science Stream<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in the ESP Computer Science Stream enroll in first-year Math courses<br>(MATH 1007\/1104), first-year Computer Science courses (COMP1005\/1006) and a<br>First-Year Seminar (FYSM 1900) course.<br>To earn admission to a Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Data Science, students must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the ESP Computer Science stream with an overall minimum average of B- (7.0), <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">and<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Earn a minimum grade of C- in each of: MATH 1007, MATH 1104 and COMP 1006.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"esp-engineering-stream\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">ESP Engineering Stream<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in the ESP Engineering stream enroll in first-year Math (MATH 1004\/1104) and first-year Chemistry<br>(CHEM 1001\/1002) as well as a First-Year Seminar course. A minimum grade of a D+ is required in all prerequisite core 杏吧原创 courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"bachelor-of-mathematics\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bachelor of Mathematics<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Students interested in a B.Math should enroll in a First-Year Seminar (FYSM 1900) course, first-year Math<br>courses (MATH 1007\/1107), and additional credit to be chosen in consultation with an ESP advisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Bachelor of Mathematics<\/strong> &#8211; An overall average of C+ (6.0) and a minimum grade of C- in each of MATH 1007 and MATH 1107.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Bachelor of Mathematics Honours <\/strong>&#8211; An overall average of B- (7.0) and a minimum grade of C- in each of MATH 1007 and MATH 1107.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"other-programs\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Programs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify for other programs through ESP, such as <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Architecture, Industrial Design, Information<br>Technology, Humanities, Journalism, Nursing, Public Affairs &amp; Policy Management, and Social Work<\/strong>, please<br>consult with Admissions Services 613-520-3609 or <a href=\"mailto:admissions@carleton.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admissions@carleton.ca<\/a> or reach out to an ESP Advisor<br><a href=\"mailto:esp.advising@carleton.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">esp.advising@carleton.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"students-starting-esp-in-the-winter-term\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Students starting ESP in the Winter Term<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"esp-arts-social-science-stream\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">ESP Arts &amp; Social Science Stream<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who begin ESP in January can earn up to <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">1.5 credits<\/strong> (3 half-credit courses and two non-credit<br>workshops).<br>Normally, ESP students, unless they qualify as a mature student (see below), must complete at least<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\"> 2.0<br>credits<\/strong> before being considered for admission to a degree program. This means that you will be continuing<br>ESP in the subsequent summer, fall or fall\/winter terms before you can be considered for admission to a degree<br>program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"degree-requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Degree requirements<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After successful completion of 2.0 credits, you may be admitted to a B.A. program with a B average (8.0 on 杏吧原创\u2019s 12 point scale)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After successful completion of 2.5 credits, you may be admitted to a B.A. program with a B- average (7.0 on 杏吧原创\u2019s 12 point scale)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After successful completion of 3.0 credits, you may be admitted to a B.A. program with a C+ average (6.0 on 杏吧原创\u2019s 12 point scale)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After successful completion of 4.0 or more credits, you may be <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/regulations\/academicregulationsoftheuniversity\/regulations-for-degree-students\/#changes-of-degree-and-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted <\/a>to a B.A. program as long as you are \u201celigible to continue\u201d under the degree\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/regulations\/academicregulationsoftheuniversity\/regulations-for-degree-students\/#academic-continuation-evaluation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Academic Continuation Evaluation<\/a> rules (normally a minimum CGPA of C-)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who meet the criteria above are eligible for admission to most of 杏吧原创\u2019s Bachelor of Arts<br>Programs. Please note that some B.A. programs may require completion of high school prerequisite subjects<br>(BA Biology, B. Economics).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"mature-students\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mature Students<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Mature students may qualify for admission to a B.A. program after having completed a minimum of 1.0 credit<br>with at least a C- or better standing in the first attempt (i.e. your first university credit(s)), provided they meet<br>the university\u2019s formal definition of \u201cMature\u201d applicants; that is they:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have not attended a college or university as full-time students;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> have been away from full-time studies for at least two calendar years;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>do not meet the normal admission requirements (as published in the Undergraduate Calendar).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have completed any required prerequisite subjects (for example: an applicant to a B.A. Biology must have completed grade 12 advanced Chemistry with a minimum of 60% or higher).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"how-does-carleton-calculate-your-esp-average\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does 杏吧原创 calculate your ESP average?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>杏吧原创 uses a 12-point grade system to calculate cumulative grade point averages (CGPA).
