If a course on the list becomes ineligible, any B.Eng. students registered in that course will be notified via email before the registration deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"click-here-complementary-studies-elective-course-options-for-fall-2026-and-winter-2027-terms-updated-august-14-2026\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/engineering-design\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/63\/2026\/08\/FA26-WN27-CSE.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/engineering-design\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/63\/2026\/08\/FA26-WN27-CSE.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><i>CLICK HERE: <\/i>Complementary Studies Elective course options for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms<\/a> <em>(updated August 14, 2026)<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Effective 24SU term, to be acceptable for inclusion in your degree, a complementary studies elective (CSE) must meet the following requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>has 3 hours of lecture per week (can include up to 1 hour tutorial\/discussion time);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>subject matter that deals with the humanities and social sciences;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>includes an assessment of written material;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is not a \u201clanguage learning\u201d course;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the course must have a &#8220;Scheduled&#8221; (in-person or online) component &#8211; see <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registration\/course-delivery-types\/#course-registration-labels\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registration\/course-delivery-types\/#course-registration-labels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Course Delivery Types<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Note:<\/span> courses completed prior to 24SU term will not be reconsidered for inclusion under these CSE guidelines.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enrolment in courses on this list is subject to departmental approval, as there may be additional requirements that B.Eng. students do not meet.
