Humans need calories to survive, but food is about so much more than sustenance. We break bread together to celebrate special occasions, show our loved ones we care, and just for the joy of it. The Parkdale Food Centre wants its Mino’Weesini Grocery Program to better reflect the central role that food plays in our lives.

Creating Vibrant Public Space: How Architecture Builds Community

Over the past few decades, the prevalence of free, accessible public spaces has been declining in cities around the world. Neither home nor work, these gathering places, such as parks and libraries, bring people from different backgrounds together to socialize and feel a sense a community. Factors contributing to this decline include the increasing cost and privatization of urban land, as well as the shift toward a more individualistic, fast-paced world with more digital interaction. When these places disappear, the social connections that hold cities together can weaken.

�Ӱ�ԭ�� Ranked Top 10 in Canada for Engineering

�Ӱ�ԭ�� University’s Faculty of Engineering and Design (FED) has moved up two spots to No. 10 in Canada in the . FED’s electronics engineering profile ranked No. 4 in Canada, and for the first time, our civil engineering profile was ranked No. 9 nationally.

The U.S. News & World Report, a U.S.-based media company known for education analysis and global rankings, placed �Ӱ�ԭ��’s Faculty of Engineering and Design in the top 30 per cent of engineering schools worldwide. The rankings are based solely on academic research performance and international reputation.

Presented by the �Ӱ�ԭ�� Innovation Transfer Office (CITO)��ɾ��ٳ󾱲��Industry and Partnership Services (IPS), the newly launched award recognizes �Ӱ�ԭ�� experts whose high-impact research extends beyond the scientific community, fostering real-world economic, social, and environmental impacts.

This is the raison d’être of the Adrian D.C. Chan Award for Volunteer and Community Service: to recognize one or two full-time engineering students in the Faculty of Engineering and Design (FED) who give back in community engagement and volunteering.
