The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/employment-social-development\/services\/student-work-placements-wage-subsidies.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Student Work Placement Program<\/a><strong>\u00a0(SWPP)<\/strong> provides to eligible private sector and not-for-profit employers to assist them with the cost of hiring students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"overview\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The program provides 50% (to a maximum of $5000.00) of a student\u2019s pay in wage subsidies to employers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employers can hire students in any program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment to qualify for funding from SWPP<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Federal, Provincial, Territorial and Municipal governments are NOT eligible for SWPP funding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Private sector employers based in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fin.gov.on.ca\/en\/credit\/cetc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ontario<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/creditimpot.inforoutefpt.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Quebec<\/a> and Manitoba who hire a co-op student for a full-time work term can qualify for a tax credit of up to <strong>$3,000&nbsp;<\/strong>as part of the&nbsp;Co-operative Education Tax Credit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"how-to-apply\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This funding is being administered by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) through delivery partners representing target industry sectors.
