]]> The paper entitled “High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS)-Aided GNSS for Urban Areas”, coauthored by Hongzhao Zheng (PhD-ECE student in SCE) and Professors Mohamed Atia and Halim Yanikomeroglu, received the Best Paper Award in the IEEE International Conference on Wireless for Space and Extreme Environments (WiSEE) 2022.

Hongzhao’s Ph.D. work is on improving the localization & positioning accuracy of GPS systems through a visionary concept of high altitude platform stations (HAPS) to be deployed in the stratosphere (20 km above the ground) working in cooperation with the satellite networks.
