The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies (DGES) at 杏吧原创 University (Ottawa) invites applications for a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Applied Atmospheric Sciences at the Assistant or Associate level.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing or applying atmospheric and climate models and/or integrating data products such as climate projections, numerical weather prediction outputs, and reanalysis datasets. Specializations may include downscaling and bias correction, data assimilation, and reconciling simulations with observations, to quantify climate-driven impacts spanning atmospheric, terrestrial, or marine systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential to build an internationally recognized research and training program, fostering equitable and inclusive collaboration, complementing and expanding existing expertise while engaging researchers and policymakers in support of climate change adaptation and assessment.

Appointment is conditional on the approval of the application by the CRC Secretariat.

Tier 2 Chairs are intended for exceptional emerging scholars (i.e., candidates must have been an active researcher in their field for fewer than 10 years at the time of nomination). Applicants who are more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree (and where career breaks exist, such as maternity, parental or extended sick leave, clinical training, etc.) may have their eligibility for a Tier 2 Chair assessed through the program鈥檚 Tier 2 justification process. DGES (/geography/) has research clusters in northern studies, watershed hydrology and biogeochemistry, cryospheric science, biogeochemistry, hydrology, remote sensing, agriculture/food systems, societal impacts of the climate crisis, colonialism, urban studies and social and environmental injustice.  We employ field-based methods, geomatics, and modelling, have strong interdisciplinary connections, and offer extensive undergraduate and graduate programs.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and the Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art, and Culture (ICSLAC) invite applications from qualified candidates for a SSHRC Tier I Canada Research Chair (CRC) appointment in Community-Engaged Arts and Humanities Research. The chair, whose appointment will be in ICSLAC and another FASS unit based on the research program of the successful candidate, will be at the rank of associate or full professor beginning January 1, 2027. The ideal candidate will have a PhD within the arts and/or humanities and an established record of community-engaged research with equity-deserving groups. The successful candidate will have a strong record of externally funded research and will be a leader in bridging academic and non-academic communities through research, collaboration, and innovative forms of knowledge mobilization. We define the research area broadly to include scholars engaged in a wide range of disciplines and approaches. Similarly, we recognize that community as a concept may range from the local to the global. Fulbright Canada and 杏吧原创 University have established dedicated research chairs in support of educational programming, teaching and research. This opportunity will allow extraordinary American scholars and top-tier applied researchers to spend one academic year as a visiting research scholar working in a targeted area of academic inquiry.

杏吧原创 the Position

This Chair will be an accomplished scholar with expertise that aligns with research interests in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and will be hosted in a FASS Unit. The Chair will contribute to on-going research within FASS, lead research seminars, mentor students and enhance networks that will facilitate research collaborations extending beyond the period of the Fulbright Chair. Applicants should indicate the FASS Unit(s) that most closely align with their research interests.

  • Awards to be taken up in the聽2026-2027 Academic Year

  • The next competition, for awards to be taken up in the 2026-2027 Academic Year, will open in聽February 2026
