They provide visitors with important information such as contact details, job titles, biographies, and areas of expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike a standard page, a People Profile stores information in a structured format that can be displayed automatically in staff directories, team listings, and profile cards throughout your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Examples include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Faculty profiles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff directories<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research team members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student ambassadors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advisory committee members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"when-to-use-a-people-profile\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to Use a People Profile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use a People Profile when you want visitors to learn more about an individual and how to contact them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A profile may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Job title<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Department<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biography<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Profile photo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social media links<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal or professional website<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People Profiles can then be displayed individually or as part of a larger directory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"creating-a-people-profile\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating a People Profile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To create a profile:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the Dashboard, select <strong>People<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Add New<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the person&#8217;s name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add a profile photo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the profile details.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add a biography and any additional content.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publish the profile.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"adding-a-profile-photo\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adding a Profile Photo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A professional profile photo helps visitors identify the individual and adds visual consistency to staff and team directories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To add a profile photo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Locate the <strong>Featured Image<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Set Featured Image<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upload a new image or choose one from the Media Library.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recommended image size:<\/strong> 400 \u00d7 400 pixels<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose a clear, professional-quality image whenever possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"profile-information\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Profile Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People Profiles contain several fields designed specifically for biographical and contact information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on your site&#8217;s configuration, available fields may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"professional-information\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Professional Information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Job title<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Degree or credentials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Department or unit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Office location<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"contact-information\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contact Information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Email address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phone number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Website<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"additional-information\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pronouns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social media links<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional profiles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research links<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Providing complete information helps visitors connect with the right person quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"writing-a-biography\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Writing a Biography<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main content area of the profile can be used to create a biography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Common content includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Professional background<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Areas of expertise<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research interests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teaching areas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awards and achievements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biography section supports regular content blocks, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paragraphs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Headings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Images<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Buttons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This allows you to build more detailed profiles when necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"displaying-people-profiles\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Displaying People Profiles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People Profiles can be displayed throughout your website using listings and cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Common uses include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Staff directories<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Faculty listings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research teams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Department contacts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Featured experts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because profile information is stored in a structured format, updates only need to be made once and will automatically appear wherever the profile is displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&#8217;ll learn more about listings and cards in <strong>Module 3: Listings &amp; You will now be working on a people post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Start by clicking in the banner to add first name and last name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Add a profile picture by clicking on the main options on the page, then click on \u201c<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">set featured image<\/strong>\u201d to set a profile picture\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, under professional info, you can add in a job title, degree, and office number. And you can also select a building from this drop-down menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beneath that is a place for contact information. So you can add an email address, a telephone number, and an extension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And finally, here at the bottom is a place to add links to any kind of social or a link to the person\u2019s resume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you have filled in all the people options, click on the settings icon up here at the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the person tab, choose options relevant to how that person is listed on your site. You can categorize them. For example \u2013 faculty, staff, students. And you do that right down here under categories, <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Add a new people category.<\/strong> We\u2019ll categorize this person as faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And you can also specify an area of expertise. So perhaps a research area. And this allows you to pull people listings onto a page by category. For example, you might pull in all admin staff, or all researchers in a specific area, onto a page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Below the people info block is a block area just like any other page, where you can add any block such as a paragraph to add for example, a biographical information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once your done, we can take look at what a people post will look like on the front end.
