Unlike standard pages or posts, Events include structured information such as dates, times, locations, registration links, and contact details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because event information is stored separately from the content itself, events can be displayed automatically in listings, calendars, and promotional sections throughout your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Examples include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Conferences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workshops<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lectures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information sessions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open houses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"when-to-use-an-event\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to Use an Event<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use an Event whenever the content is tied to a specific date and time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An Event should generally include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Event title<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Date and time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Location<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Event description<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration information (if applicable)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting image<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once an event has passed, it can automatically be removed from event listings, helping keep your website current.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"creating-an-event\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating an Event<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To create an Event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the Dashboard, select <strong>Events<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Add New<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter a title for the event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add any additional content or event details using blocks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the Event Options fields.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"event-details\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Event Details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Event Options section contains the information visitors need to attend your event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"date-and-time\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Date and Time<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enter the event start and end date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Event dates are used to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Display upcoming events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Order events chronologically<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove past events from listings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"location\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Location<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specify where the event will take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This may be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An on-campus location<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An off-campus venue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An online meeting link<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Location information helps visitors understand where and how to participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"registration-and-information-links\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Registration and Information Links<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If registration is required, add a button or registration link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Examples include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Register Now<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>View Event Details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Join Online<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"contact-information\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contact Information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Provide contact details so visitors know who to reach if they have questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"event-images\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Event Images<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Events support both preset images and custom featured images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"preset-images\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preset Images<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some event types may include predefined images that can be selected from a list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"custom-featured-images\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Custom Featured Images<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also upload a custom image to represent the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Featured images are often used in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Event listings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Event cards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Featured content areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recommended image size:<\/strong> 600 \u00d7 400 pixels<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose an image that clearly reflects the event and will remain recognizable when displayed in smaller card layouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"adding-additional-content\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adding Additional Content<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like pages and posts, Events support blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can add:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paragraphs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Headings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Images<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Buttons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other supported blocks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This allows you to provide additional details such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Event schedules<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speaker information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parking instructions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accessibility information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"displaying-events-on-your-website\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Displaying Events on Your Website<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Events are rarely viewed one at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are usually displayed through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Event listings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Event cards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Featured event sections<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These layouts automatically pull event information and display it consistently across your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&#8217;ll learn how to create event listings in <strong>Module 3: Listings &amp; Event posts include all the relevant information, such as time, location, or links to join if it is virtual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To add an event, go to the dashboard, hover over \u201cEvents\u201d, and click Add New.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first thing you can do is add a title. You can click on the title, and add what you want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, you will see at the bottom that you have Event Options, which you can use to customize the specifics of your event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can add a start and end date, including the time of day, the location (Whether it is in-person, virtual, or hybrid), event cost, buttons for registration and other information, and contact information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Start date, end date, and location are all required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When You select in-person, you can choose whether it is on campus or off campus. If it is on-campus, you just select the building and the room number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For off-campus, you can just enter the address of the location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a virtual event, you can chose whether it is on Teams or a zoom, and add a meeting link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, you can choose an image for your event. You can choose one of our presets or upload a custom image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To add a preset, go to the \u201cPost Thumbnail\u201d tab and select from the dropdown menu. To upload a custom image or use an image from your media library, click on \u201cFeatured Image\u201d on the right side of the screen.
