They are used to create long-term content that helps visitors navigate and understand your site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Examples of pages include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul Procedures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this lesson, you&#8217;ll learn how to create pages and organize them using titles, page hierarchy, categories, and featured images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"creating-a-new-page\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating a New Page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To create a page:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the Dashboard, select <strong>Pages<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Add New<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter a page title.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add content using blocks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save your work or publish the page when ready.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can return to edit your page at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"page-titles\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Page Titles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When creating a page, you may encounter both an SEO Title and a Banner Title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"seo-title\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEO Title<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SEO Title is used by search engines and often appears in browser tabs and search results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It should clearly describe the content of your page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"banner-title\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Banner Title<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Banner Title is displayed to visitors at the top of the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In some situations, it may differ from the SEO Title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SEO Title<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>Undergraduate id=\"organizing-pages\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Organizing Pages<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As websites grow, organizing your content becomes increasingly important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"parent-and-child-pages\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parent and Child Pages<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pages can be arranged in a hierarchy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>Programs\n\u251c\u2500\u2500 Undergraduate Programs\n\u251c\u2500\u2500 Graduate Programs\n\u2514\u2500\u2500 Continuing Education<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this example, the three program pages are children of the main Programs page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To create a child page:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the page editor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the <strong>Page<\/strong> settings panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate <strong>Page Attributes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select a parent page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Creating a hierarchy helps organize your website and can also affect page URLs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example: <code>https:\/\/carleton.ca\/yoursite\/programs\/undergraduate-programs<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"page-categories\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Page Categories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pages can optionally be assigned to categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Categories help group related content and can be used by certain listing blocks and filtering tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To add a category:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the page editor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate the <strong>Page Categories<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select an existing category or create a new one.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn more about categories in the Categories training module.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"featured-images\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Featured Images<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A featured image is an image associated with a page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Featured images are often displayed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In page cards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In listing blocks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In featured content sections<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To assign a featured image:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the page editor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate the <strong>Featured Image<\/strong> panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Set Featured Image<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose an image from the Media Library or upload a new image.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recommended size:<\/strong> 600 \u00d7 400 pixels<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tip:<\/strong> Choose images that clearly represent the page and are consistent with the visual style of your site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"managing-existing-pages\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Managing Existing Pages<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To view your site&#8217;s pages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to <strong>Pages<\/strong> &gt; <strong>All Pages<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pages screen allows you to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>View all pages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search for pages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Filter content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locate drafts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review content in the Trash<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As your website grows, this screen becomes one of the primary cutheme, module 2. This tutorial will cover pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Add a new page using the top menu or the side menu. This will bring you to the page editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can give your page a title by clicking on the&nbsp;<strong>Add a Title<\/strong>&nbsp;and then you just start typing in here. You can also add text or different types of blocks by clicking the add block button. Or just by typing in here which is a default paragraph block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also make one page the child of another. This will put the URL of the parent page before the URL of the page. And it also really helps to keep your pages organized. To give a page a parent, open the page settings menu and then go over to the page tab. And near the bottom of this, you\u2019ll notice Page Attributes. Click on the dropdown arrow to open that up. And then you can start typing the name of the page here. So I will select Mastery to be the parent of Charlotte\u2019s page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click the&nbsp;<strong>Save Draft<\/strong>&nbsp;or the&nbsp;<strong>Publish<\/strong>&nbsp;button to publish the page. And now you can preview the Page by clicking on the&nbsp;<strong>View Page<\/strong>&nbsp;button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">View all of your pages by going to&nbsp;<strong>Pages<\/strong>&gt;&nbsp;<strong>All Pages<\/strong>&nbsp;in the navigation menu. You can click on each tab to view the pages that you have published.
