This video is going to explain the different types of content that you can use to build and fill out your website.

Essentially, the different types of content options that you have correspond to different uses and specialized functions.

We have pages, posts, events, people, and videos.

This right here is a page. And pages generally make up the main website structure and navigation of your website. Pages can also contain different types of information. Have a look at the homepage – you can see that it has a banner at the top. We have this alert box, a text and image block. And then it can also contain what we call listings. This is a listing of different news posts.

Next we’ll move on to news posts. If you click on one of these we’ll come to an individual news post. News posts usually present timely and important information in the form of a blog and they are ordered chronologically.

Let’s move on to events. The event post type, as the name suggests, is used to create and highlight upcoming events. They are organized chronologically and once the event has passed it will disappear off your website. You can include information such as the date, the location, contact information, and any other details that you need to. Here is what an individual event post looks like.

Next up are people posts. A people post is essentially a profile. You can include lots of information in a people post, such as, some bio info, contact information, including email, a telephone number, social links, a link to a resume, and a picture.

And lastly we have a video post type. Each video post contains one embedded video. You can categorize the individual posts and pull them onto a page to create a video gallery. When you click on it, it’s going to start playing automatically.

We’re going to learn more about each of these content types in detail in the following lessons.

Each of these content types has unique characteristics, allowing content editors to create diverse and functional websites.
