Creating content is only part of the editing process. Before your content appears on the website, you’ll often save your work as a draft, preview it to ensure everything looks correct, and then publish it when you’re ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understanding the publishing workflow will help you make changes confidently while avoiding accidental updates to your live website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working with Drafts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A draft is content that has been created but is not yet visible to website visitors. Drafts allow you to work on content over time and save your progress before publishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auto-Save<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

WordPress automatically saves your work while you edit. This helps prevent content from being lost if your browser closes unexpectedly or your internet connection is interrupted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While auto-save is helpful, it’s still a good habit to save your work regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Save Draft<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Previewing Content<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Before publishing, it’s important to preview your content to ensure it appears as expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Desktop Preview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The desktop preview displays how your content will appear on a typical computer screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Review:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Many visitors access websites from mobile devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Use the mobile preview to ensure:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Preview Before Publishing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        Previewing allows you to review your work before publishing it to the live website. Even small changes can affect page layout or formatting, so taking a moment to preview your content can help catch issues before visitors see them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Publishing Content<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        When you’re satisfied with your content, you’re ready to publish it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Publishing a New Page<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        To publish a page:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Click the Publish<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Review the publication settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Click Publish<\/strong> again to confirm.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Once published, the page becomes available to website visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Updating Existing Content<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          When editing an existing published page, the Publish<\/strong> button is replaced with Update<\/strong>. Clicking Update<\/strong> immediately applies your changes to the live website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Important:<\/strong> Any updates made to published content become visible as soon as the page is updated.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Managing Content Status<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          Throughout its lifecycle, content may exist in different states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Draft<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          Draft content is still being developed and is not visible to visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Use drafts when:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • Creating new content<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Making substantial revisions<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Waiting for approval or review<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Published<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            Published content is live on the website and visible to visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Most content will remain in the Published state until it is edited, replaced, or removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Trash<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            Content moved to the Trash is removed from public view but is not immediately deleted permanently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            If a page is removed accidentally, it can usually be restored from the Trash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Before You Publish<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            Before making content live, take a few moments to perform a final review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
