Congratulations to Tessa Nasca as the new Community Coordinator for TCAT\u2019s Active Neighbourhoods Canada<\/a> project!<\/p>\n

Tessa brings a background in active transportation advocacy and urban design, and is dedicated to creating more accessible and participatory planning processes. Tessa holds a Master of Arts in Sustainability Studies from Trent University, and worked as a CFICE\/Trent researcher during her MA with GreenUP Peterborough<\/a> and Stewart Street Neighbourhood<\/a> for the first phase of the Active Neighbourhoods project in Peterborough.<\/p>\n

In this new role, Tessa will be working with three more Peterborough neighbourhoods (Brookdale, Downtown Jackson Creek, and Talwood). NeighbourPlan will directly support people as they develop the tools, confidence, relationships, and language necessary to influence the spaces and services that matter to them, demonstrating the possibilities that arise when planning processes meaningfully engage and amplify the diverse voices and lived experiences that are present in our community. Project aims include making planning fun, hopeful, and inclusive!<\/p>\n

The project is led and coordinated by Laura Keresztesi of GreenUP Peterborough with several key community partners including the John Howard Society, City of Peterborough, Trent University, Toronto Centre for Active Transportation & Montreal Urban Ecology Centre, PeterboroughPublic Health. The project is generously funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation for three years.<\/p>\n

Nadine Changfoot and Stephen Hill, Trent University faculty and CFICE researchers, will provide research and evaluation support to the project.<\/p>\n
